Running from Hurricane Gustav -- in Texas

Hello Everyone! Karma and I evacuated before sunrise Sunday morning. Those of you who remember our Katrina ordeal will remember that Karma stayed behind to work at the hospital. Fortunately, in her new position she is considered "non-essential" and didn't have to stay this time. I am relieved that she was able to evacuate with me...I don't think I could take being separated from her again.

We are safe again in the hill country outside Austin. Of course, we are watching everything happening in New Orleans closely, and we can't wait to get back to see the state of the Bed & Breakfast. As we always do, we shuttered all the windows and turned our keys over to a New Orleans Police Department officer so officers who live outside the district can use our B&B rooms to get a decent night's sleep.

Our location in Texas is so calm and beautiful...it's such a sharp contrast to what is going on at home now. (This is our view from Dick & Patty's terrace!)

We will be returning and welcoming guests again as soon as possible. It is a privilege to know that our past guests care so much about us and our house. Your well-wishes help remind us why we love the B&B business. We look forward to seeing y'all again.

We're so looking forward to our first stay with you in February. I wanted you to know that Joey and I are sending our best wishes and are glad to hear you are both safe from the storm! Enjoy all that hill country has to offer in the meantime!

When I saw the evacuation yesterday on the news I was wondering how you were doing. Glad to read that you are safe and sound. Even though it looks like another bad storm, I hope that the effects are not as severe as last time. My father and I spent a very pleasent time with you a few months before Katrina.

All the best.

Kind regards,

Richard Wolff
